Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay is planning to submit his nomination papers on March 30 for the Perambur Assembly constituency. He recently met with Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik to raise issues of alleged administrative bias ahead of his campaign launch. Vijay’s formal entry into the electoral race in Perambur is anticipated to attract significant attention.
In his complaint to the CEO, Vijay requested prompt approval for his campaign plans in Perambur and other areas of Tamil Nadu. He highlighted concerns about unfair treatment and requested intervention to ensure fair competition, citing instances of officials allegedly favoring the ruling party.
Accompanied by senior TVK leader K.A. Sengottaiyan, Vijay expressed frustration over a campaign event cancellation despite complying with election regulations. The party had notified the event in advance as required, but faced obstacles such as barricades and dug pits at the venue, leading to the event’s cancellation.
Vijay’s team also accused officials of applying inconsistent rules, hindering their campaign efforts. They claimed that while other parties received full support, TVK encountered difficulties in securing venues for its events. Vijay emphasized the need for impartial enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct and urged the CEO to assess specific officials’ conduct.
With his nomination filing approaching, Vijay is gearing up to kick off his election campaign from Perambur shortly after. This move sets the stage for his much-anticipated political debut in Tamil Nadu’s Assembly elections.
