In preparation for the 2026 Assembly elections, Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is set to expand into core AIADMK strongholds, aiming to reshape the Opposition landscape in Tamil Nadu. The decision was made during a high-level meeting led by Vijay at his Chennai residence. Key party members, including N. Anand, K.A. Sengottaiyan, Aadhav Arjuna, and K.G. Arunraj, discussed strategies to strengthen the party’s presence and appeal to AIADMK’s traditional voter base. TVK sees an opportunity to fill the political vacuum left by the weakening AIADMK in districts where it previously held strong support. By aligning with the legacies of former Chief Ministers MG Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, TVK aims to connect with AIADMK supporters. The party plans a significant rally in Salem in January 2026, challenging AIADMK’s stronghold in the region. Additionally, Vijay’s overseas promotional tour for his upcoming film will precede his political engagements. The party is gearing up for the elections by forming committees for alliance talks and manifesto drafting, while also focusing on voter registration drives. In response to a controversial video involving a party member, TVK has taken swift action to investigate the matter.
