Violence broke out at various polling stations in Bangladesh on Thursday, resulting in the death of a political leader during the ongoing voting process. The incidents occurred shortly after polling commenced, highlighting the worsening law enforcement situation and unstable security conditions in the country.
At the Alia Madrasa polling station in Khulna district, a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader named Mohibuzzaman Kochi lost his life amidst clashes between BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami supporters. Eyewitnesses and police reported tension escalating between the two groups near the Alia Madras Academic Building.
According to reports, the violence stemmed from a confrontation between the BNP leader and the principal of Alia Madrasa, who was allegedly campaigning for Jamaat. The situation intensified, leading to Kochi being pushed, hitting a tree, and sustaining fatal injuries to his head.
