Vivaan Dave and Naisha Rewaskar pulled off an upset victory against top seeds Aditya Das and Ankolika Chakraborty in a tense decider at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender in Vadodara. The match went into extra points, with Vivaan and Naisha winning with scores of 13-11, 5-11, 11-7, 5-11, 23-21, securing a spot in the U-15 mixed doubles final.
This year’s WTT Youth Contender in Vadodara includes competitions for U-11 to U-19 categories, attracting a total of 226 players. Vivaan and Naisha will face Reyansh Jalan and Tanishka Kalbhairav in the final, who won their semifinal match against Sanjay Jagdish and Myraa Sangelkar.
In another category, top seeds Abhinandh Pradhivadhi and Ananya Muralidharan advanced to the U-19 mixed doubles final against Sarthak Arya and Syndrela Das. Abhinandh and Ananya secured their spot by defeating Ritvik Gupta and Ahona Roy, while Sarthak and Syndrela overcame Sahil Rawat and Hardee Patel in the semifinals.
The intense match between Vivaan and Naisha and Aditya and Ankolika saw the former pair displaying remarkable fighting spirit. Despite being down 5-8 and facing match points, Vivaan and Naisha staged a comeback, eventually winning the match after a thrilling decider.
