Polling for the high-stakes Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry began at 7 a.m. The voting is ongoing for 126 Assembly seats in Assam, 140 in Kerala, and 30 in Puducherry, with results scheduled for May 4. In Kerala, the electoral process started early with over 30,000 polling booths active by 5.30 a.m., including home voting by nearly two lakh voters.
The election dynamics in Assam are primarily between the BJP and Congress, with BJP eyeing a third consecutive term and Congress aiming to reclaim power. In Puducherry, voters are turning out steadily to elect representatives for the 30-member Assembly, with a keen contest expected among major political parties. The Union Territory is currently governed by a coalition led by AINRC and supported by the BJP.
