Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam’s Biswanath district, voters expressed that the government’s development and welfare efforts will impact their voting choices. Many residents have already decided to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), citing visible progress and the implementation of government schemes that have benefited a significant portion of the population.

One voter mentioned, “We will vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party because it delivers results. The BJP works for everyone, whether they belong to minority communities or the majority. We have received housing benefits, and ration has also been provided.” Another voter expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral success, stating, “The BJP will win. They have done good work, and we will give 100 per cent of our votes to the BJP.”

Residents highlighted the impact of Central welfare schemes, with one saying, “We are supporting the BJP because it has ensured development at every level. Benefits from the Prime Minister’s schemes have reached every household. Ration distribution and other facilities have improved our lives. Compared to the 15 years of rule by the Indian National Congress, the BJP has delivered more than double the development in just 10 years.”

Some voters also noted changing perceptions among minority communities, emphasizing a shift towards supporting development. One voter explained, “Now, under the BJP government, development has reached minority areas as well, and people feel more included and secure.” The voter added, “Over the past decade, with the BJP in power at both the state and central levels, people have seen the benefits of development-oriented governance.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed a public rally in Gogamukh and Biswanath, expressing confidence in the BJP’s return to power for a third consecutive term. He highlighted Assam’s cultural heritage and the importance of a developed Assam for a developed India.
