The voting process for Municipal Corporations in Maharashtra faced challenges due to administrative mismanagement. Forest Minister Ganesh Naik encountered difficulties in casting his vote for the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, highlighting issues like missing names on voter lists and malfunctioning EVMs. Reports of inefficiencies causing inconvenience to voters have sparked public outrage against the State Election Commission’s handling of the elections.
After facing obstacles, Minister Ganesh Naik and his family eventually succeeded in voting but not without raising serious concerns about the system’s functionality. The confusion persisted as they struggled to locate their names at different polling stations. Despite being a prominent figure, Minister Naik’s experience shed light on the broader issues faced by ordinary voters during the voting process.
In various cities like Mumbai, Solapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad, voting booths encountered problems such as non-functional machines, leading to delays and frustration among voters. Instances of voters being unaware of their designated polling centers in Mira-Bhayandar and delays in starting EVMs in areas like Lalbaug’s Chivda Galli in Mumbai added to the challenges faced during the elections.
In different locations across Maharashtra, including Kurla, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Solapur, and Nagpur, technical glitches with EVMs caused disruptions in the voting process. From delayed starts to stalled voting due to malfunctions, these issues have raised concerns about the efficiency and effectiveness of the electoral procedures in the state.
