Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman praised the support staff of India’s U19 men’s team for their role in securing a World Cup win. India emerged victorious in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, defeating England by a significant 100-run margin in the final held at the Harare Sports Club. This victory marked India’s sixth U19 World Cup title, solidifying their status as the most successful nation in the tournament’s history.
Laxman expressed his pride in the team’s achievements, emphasizing the staff’s professionalism, attention to detail, and care for the players. He highlighted the significance of teamwork in their success and thanked the staff for their dedicated efforts. India’s win also marked a rare feat as they currently hold both the ICC Under-19 Men’s and Women’s World Cup titles.
In addition to Laxman’s accolades, the BCCI acknowledged Head Coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar and the support staff for their clear guidance and purpose in leading the team. The BCCI also credited Laxman for his strategic vision in developing India’s age-group cricket system, ensuring a seamless transition from junior to elite levels. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi emerged as a standout performer for India, scoring a remarkable 175 runs, the highest individual score in an Under-19 World Cup final.
