World No. 1 Wang Chuqin has been appointed as the captain of China’s men’s table tennis team, while Liang Jingkun has been named vice-captain. Wang Hao, the head coach of the Chinese men’s team, expressed hope that Wang Chuqin would uphold the responsibilities of the team captain, succeeding former captain Ma Long. Wang and Liang played pivotal roles in China’s victory at the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals in London, securing their 12th consecutive men’s title.

Wang Chuqin, currently topping the men’s singles world rankings, showcased a flawless performance in all 10 matches during the tournament, whereas Liang demonstrated remarkable comebacks in the semifinals and final against opponents from France and Japan, respectively. Wang, a 26-year-old Olympic gold medalist in mixed doubles, has achieved significant success in various table tennis competitions, including the WTT Finals and the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals.

Having clinched multiple gold medals in prestigious events like the Asian Games and World Championships, Wang Chuqin continues to excel in the sport. His recent victories in the WTT United States Smash Men’s Singles and WTT Champions Macao tournaments further solidify his position as a dominant force in table tennis.
