West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has lifted the ban on diesel supply in containers for critical sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and public services. The official order from the state Food and Supplies Department confirms the relaxation of fuel restrictions for these essential areas. Adhikari emphasized that this move aims to ensure the smooth functioning of daily life, emergency services, and the state’s economy without disruptions.
The Chief Minister highlighted the challenges faced by farmers, hospitals, and emergency services due to the diesel supply ban. He mentioned that the government’s intervention was necessary to support the general public. Major oil companies have been directed to exempt vital sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and tea gardens from the fuel restrictions.
Adhikari clarified that individuals and organizations in these essential sectors can now purchase and transport diesel in containers with eased daily limits. He emphasized the simplicity of the process, stating that basic identification documents are sufficient to obtain diesel hassle-free at fuel stations. The state Food and Supplies Department has instructed oil companies to ensure smooth fuel supply to authorized representatives from the mentioned sectors.
To streamline the process, consumers from these sectors are advised to present specific documents like institutional identification or trade registration for quick verification at fuel stations. The notification stressed the urgency of the matter due to its significant impact on civic life, healthcare, and the state economy.
