West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, during a rally in Falta Assembly constituency, pledged to provide jobs to the families of individuals who lost their lives in the post-poll violence following the 2021 Assembly elections. He also assured support to party workers affected by the violence. Adhikari instructed the BJP candidate to submit a list of activists who faced atrocities under the previous ruling party.
The Chief Minister emphasized that assistance would be extended to the victims based on the provided list. He affirmed his commitment to stand by the affected individuals. The BJP reported that 321 party members were casualties of the post-election violence in West Bengal.
The Falta constituency witnessed alleged electoral malpractices during the second phase of the recent Assembly polls. Complaints arose regarding EVM buttons being tampered with at polling booths. Following investigations by a special poll observer, the Election Commission of India ordered a repoll in the entire Falta constituency, scheduled for May 21 with results on May 24.
