The West Bengal government has instructed various state entities to partake in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 9 to 17. This initiative aligns with the Union Ministry of Culture’s efforts to promote patriotism, national unity, and solidarity. The directive includes the participation of government departments, municipalities, educational institutions, cultural organizations, youth groups, NGOs, and the general public.

To support the campaign, each district and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation will receive 1.5 lakh national flags. Financial allocations have been made for the program, with districts receiving Rs 1 lakh each, sub-divisions Rs 50,000 each, blocks Rs 20,000 each, municipal corporations Rs 1 lakh each, and municipalities Rs 20,000 each. The authorities have planned tricolour rallies, morning processions, bicycle and e-bike rallies, painting programs, and decorations with patriotic themes.

District, subdivision, block, and municipal authorities are tasked with organizing various activities such as tricolour-themed events, exhibitions, seminars, discussions, and competitions to educate about the history and significance of the national flag. Public spaces will be adorned with quotes from freedom fighters and ‘Vande Mataram’-themed decorations. The campaign will also involve tricolour lighting in key locations and rangoli decorations in public areas.
