Wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat, aged 32, has surprisingly announced his retirement from international and Indian cricket. Bharat, who played in seven Tests for India and was a key figure in Andhra’s domestic cricket, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country.
In a heartfelt note on Instagram, Bharat thanked his family for their unwavering support throughout his cricketing journey spanning two decades. Despite initial call-ups in 2019, he made his Test debut in 2023 due to Rishabh Pant’s absence following a car accident, showcasing his skills with notable performances.
Although Bharat faced challenges with consistency in both his wicketkeeping and batting, his contributions were acknowledged. After his last Test against England in Visakhapatnam, he accumulated 223 runs in seven Tests, including a memorable appearance in the 2023 World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval.
Expressing gratitude to the BCCI, coaches, and teammates, Bharat highlighted the pivotal role of various individuals and associations in his career development.
