A woman in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, delivered a premature baby at the District Hospital’s main gate after her family claimed she did not receive timely medical attention. The newborn is in critical condition at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the hospital administration has initiated an inquiry into the incident.

The woman, Sukhvati Bai from Sahastabad village, was referred from Sironj Hospital due to complications during her seventh month of pregnancy. Despite being admitted and receiving medication, her family alleged that she was not properly monitored and they were not updated on her health status.

As Sukhvati Bai experienced severe labor pain around 9.40 P.M., she gave birth at the hospital gate while her family was moving her. Allegations arose that medical staff did not promptly attend to the situation, leaving the newborn unattended for several minutes before being transferred to the NICU.

Protests ensued at the hospital following the incident, prompting an inquiry by the hospital administration. The Civil Surgeon at the District Hospital assured that if negligence is found during the investigation, strict action will be taken against responsible medical personnel.
