Women constitute over 11 lakh members out of the 36 lakh at Banas Dairy, as stated by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. This underscores their significant contribution to Gujarat’s dairy sector’s self-reliance. The Deputy CM made these remarks during a joint ‘Milk Day’ and ‘Women Awareness Programme’ held at the Banas Dairy complex in Sanadar village in Vav-Tharad.
Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker and Banas Dairy Chairman Shankar Chaudhary was also in attendance at the event. Sanghavi commended the women livestock keepers from Banaskantha for their exceptional work in animal husbandry and the milk revolution. He highlighted that among Banas Dairy’s 36 lakh members, approximately 11 lakh are women who are actively involved in milk production, setting an example of economic self-sufficiency.
Sanghavi pointed out the dairy’s progressive stance on gender representation, noting that 33% of women are part of its Board of Directors. He drew a parallel to the national proposal for 33% reservation for women in Parliament, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Deputy CM reaffirmed the government’s commitment to stringent measures against cow slaughter, emphasizing their dedication to cattle protection.
Chaudhary, while addressing the audience, lauded the dedication and contributions of women associated with Banas Dairy. The event featured women milk producers sharing their experiences in animal husbandry and narrating their journeys in the sector. Noteworthy women and livestock keepers were recognized and honored during the program, with awards presented to them.
The gathering saw the participation of cooperative sector leaders, dairy directors, and numerous women livestock keepers from the district, making it a significant and inclusive event.
