Wrestling Federation of India Concludes Men’s Greco-Roman Events, Transitions to Women’s Category

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) wrapped up the Men’s Greco-Roman events at the Senior Open Ranking Tournament 2026 in Gonda. The tournament has now shifted focus to the women’s wrestling category, with athletes vying for national rankings through knockout stages. Athletes in the Greco-Roman division competed across 10 weight classes to determine their domestic standings.

Sanjay Singh, President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), commended the medalists and participants in the Greco-Roman category. Singh praised the athletes for their hard work and dedication, emphasizing the tournament’s role in evaluating domestic talent. He expressed confidence that the champions crowned in the tournament would excel on the international stage.

In the women’s wrestling competitions, progress has been made into the late knockout rounds. Notable matchups include Kajal Choudhary facing Shivani in the 57kg category quarterfinals. Reena is set to battle Hansika Lamba in the 65kg category semifinals. The 76kg category will witness a semifinal clash between Ishita Choudhary and Meghna.

The Greco-Roman tournament results are as follows: Sanjeev clinched gold in the 55kg category, Sandeep in the 60kg category, Vijay in the 63kg category, Nishant in the 67kg category, Suraj in the 72kg category, Vikash in the 77kg category, Manjeet in the 82kg category, Tejpal in the 87kg category, Ashish in the 97kg category, and Mehar in the 130kg category.
