At just 22 years old, Beauty Dungdung is undergoing rigorous training at the Indian Women’s Hockey Team’s national camp in Bengaluru. Despite facing a severe knee injury in 2023, which took her two years to recover from, she persevered through the physical and emotional challenges. During her rehabilitation, she tragically lost her father, who had been her pillar of strength and inspiration.
Reflecting on her humble beginnings in a small village in Jharkhand, Beauty fondly remembers how her father handcrafted her first hockey stick from bamboo when she was just five years old due to financial constraints. His unwavering support and sacrifices fueled her passion for the sport. Today, Beauty shoulders the responsibility of supporting her family, including caring for her partially paralyzed mother and financing her siblings’ education.
Balancing the demands of international hockey with personal hardships, Beauty remains resilient and determined. Despite the emotional turmoil at home, she channels her focus into the game, finding solace and motivation within her hockey family. With her remarkable skills on the field, particularly in running and receiving, she is gearing up for the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers in Hyderabad, Telangana.
Beauty Dungdung’s journey symbolizes more than just a young athlete’s pursuit of success. With each game she plays, she honors her father’s legacy, supports her family, and embodies resilience in the face of adversity.
