A tragic incident unfolded in Bengaluru’s Mahalakshmi Layout area where a young woman named Anjali was allegedly murdered by her former lover, Rajiv, who slit her throat after inviting her for dinner. Anjali and Rajiv had been in a relationship for a couple of years, having met at work, but Anjali’s family objected to their marriage due to Rajiv’s criminal background. Consequently, Anjali ended the relationship, which Rajiv struggled to accept.
The situation escalated when Rajiv, unable to come to terms with the breakup, invited Anjali for dinner on Sunday evening. Following a meal, an argument ensued between them in the Pipeline Road area over their separation. During the altercation, Rajiv took out a knife and fatally attacked Anjali by slitting her throat before fleeing the scene. Despite efforts by doctors at a nearby hospital, Anjali succumbed to her injuries.
The Mahalakshmi Layout police acted swiftly, apprehending Rajiv shortly after the murder. A case of murder has been registered, with investigations ongoing. Preliminary findings suggest that Rajiv committed the crime due to his inability to accept Anjali’s decision to end their relationship and decline marriage proposals.
In a separate incident on June 14, another tragic event occurred in Bengaluru where a 22-year-old woman from Sikkim, Ati Hangma Subba, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, Purba Lepcha, following a dispute. The couple, who had recently moved to Bengaluru, were residing together in Doddakannahalli. An argument erupted between them when Purba Lepcha suspected Ati Hangma Subba of being involved with someone else, leading to a fatal attack by Purba Lepcha with a kitchen knife.
