YSR Congress Party leaders held a protest outside the DGP’s office as they were denied a meeting to report the brutal murder of Dalit activist Manda Salman. The party members were eventually able to submit their complaint to an Additional DGP after being refused access to the Director General of Police.
Former minister Merugu Nagarjuna condemned Salman’s killing as a “government-sponsored murder” and demanded a CBI investigation into the case. He criticized the police for not filing a proper FIR and for charging Salman posthumously.
The leaders expressed outrage over the police’s initial reluctance to allow them to view Salman’s body, only relenting after YSRCP president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy intervened to ensure proper burial arrangements.
