A court in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district has granted bail to YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) General Secretary (Media), Pudi Srihari, who was arrested for an allegedly abusive social media post targeting Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Srihari was arrested in Bengaluru and later produced before the court in Kuppam, where bail was approved after arguments from both sides.
P. Sudhakar Reddy, YSRCP General Secretary (legal cell) and former Advocate General, mentioned discrepancies in the arrest timing presented by the police. He affirmed the party’s trust in the judiciary and its commitment to fighting what they perceive as false cases. Srihari’s arrest followed the Supreme Court’s decision not to intervene in the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s order regarding the suspension of a remand rejection order.
Srihari, who previously served as Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, faced arrest over objectionable social media content involving morphed images of Chief Minister Naidu. Despite denying involvement in creating or sharing the content, he was arrested and later released after the trial court rejected police requests for judicial remand. The High Court then suspended the trial court’s order, leading to further legal developments.
