Experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza will lead Zimbabwe in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The squad, announced by Zimbabwe Cricket, maintains the core group that reached the Super Eight in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The matches are set to take place at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on July 15, 17, and 19 following the conclusion of the ongoing ODI series in Harare. The squad sees the inclusion of fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri and batter Milton Shumba, with Nyamhuri earning his spot for his impressive performances across formats.
Additionally, Milton Shumba makes a return to the T20I squad after his last appearance in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Ben Curran, who joined the T20 World Cup squad earlier this year as an injury replacement, has also been retained in the team.
Notably, Graeme Cremer was unavailable for selection due to a left-arm fracture, while Brendan Taylor and Tony Munyonga did not make it to the World Cup squad. The squad selection was focused on continuity, as stated by Convener of Selectors David Mutendera, aiming to maintain the core team while providing opportunities to deserving players.
“The T20 World Cup showed what this group is capable of, so continuity was an important consideration for us. We wanted to keep together the core of a squad that reached the Super Eight while also creating room for players who have earned their opportunities,” Mutendera explained.
The upcoming series presents another chance for the team to grow and develop as they prepare for future international tournaments. The squad includes players like Sikandar Raza, Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Brad Evans, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri, and Milton Shumba.
