Zimbabwe kicked off their T20 World Cup 2026 journey impressively by securing a commanding eight-wicket victory against Oman. The match, held at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground (SSC) in Colombo, saw Zimbabwe easily chase down a target of 103 runs in just 13.3 overs.
Zimbabwe’s openers set a strong foundation, scoring at a brisk pace of over 10 runs per over in the initial three overs. Despite losing a couple of quick wickets, a solid partnership between Brendan Taylor and Brian Bennett guided Zimbabwe to a comfortable win.
Brian Bennett narrowly missed a half-century, finishing unbeaten on 48 runs, while Brendan Taylor contributed 31 runs before retiring hurt. Captain Sikandar Raza sealed the victory for Zimbabwe as they reached the target with 3.3 overs to spare.
The Zimbabwean bowlers, led by Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and Brad Evans, restricted Oman to 103 runs. Oman struggled early on, losing key wickets to Zimbabwe’s pace attack. Despite a brief resistance from Vinayak Shukla and Sufiyan Mehmood, Oman fell short as Zimbabwe emerged victorious.
