Zimbabwe kicked off their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign impressively by defeating Oman with a commanding eight-wicket victory. The match took place at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground (SSC) in Colombo, where Zimbabwe successfully chased down a target of 103 runs in just 13.3 overs.
In the bowling department, Zimbabwe’s trio of Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and Brad Evans shone, each taking three wickets to restrict Oman to 103 runs in 19.5 overs after Zimbabwe opted to bowl first.
Zimbabwe’s strong start in the chase saw both openers performing well, scoring at a rate of over 10 runs per over in the initial three overs. Oman managed to break through in the fourth over, dismissing Tadiwanashe Marumani and Dion Myers.
Zimbabwe’s wicketkeeper-batsman Brendan Taylor played a crucial role, forming a match-winning 68-run partnership with opener Brian Bennett. Taylor’s contribution helped Zimbabwe achieve the target comfortably in just 13.3 overs, securing a convincing victory.
