Breaking her silence after details of Assam singer Zubeen Garg’s death were presented in a Singapore court, his wife Garima Saikia Garg released a statement emphasizing their pursuit of truth through legal means. The court revealed that the 53-year-old singer drowned while swimming near Lazarus Island on September 19, 2025, reportedly after consuming alcohol and refusing a life jacket.
In a Facebook post, Garima Garg highlighted the family’s decision to share verified information with the public and authorities in Assam following concerns and unanswered questions about the incident. She mentioned the family’s initial shock and emotional distress, which delayed immediate legal action but eventually led to the filing of an FIR after videos raised doubts about the circumstances.
Garima Garg explained that Singapore authorities and the Indian High Commission in Singapore took prompt legal actions post the incident, with subsequent investigations by Assam Police resulting in a lengthy charge sheet involving murder-related sections. She also mentioned the family’s queries raised during the coroner’s hearing regarding safety measures, response time, and the exclusion of foul play, urging the governments to ensure a transparent examination of the events.
