New Delhi, March 27 (IANS) Coal India announced on Friday that it plans to invest around Rs 3,300 crore to set up 8 new coking coal washeries as part of its strategy to improve the quality of coal and reduce the country’s dependence on imports of high-quality coking coal that is used in the production of steel.The new washeries, which are expected to add a combined capacity of 21.5 million tonnes per year (MTY), are scheduled to become operational by 2029-30.
