Mumbai, July 7 (IANS) In a significant move aimed at strengthening the cooperative credit structure and curbing local political rivalries, the MahaYuti government on Tuesday introduced a bill in the state assembly to amend the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act, 1960. The bill makes it mandatory for cooperative societies to grant membership and extend crop loans to any farmer who owns at least 10 gunthas of land.
