Over 52,000 Arrested for Unlawful Possession of Indian Railways Property in Last Five Years

New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) A total of 52,494 persons were arrested under the provisions of the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1966, related to unlawful possession of property belonging to Indian Railways during the last five years (2021–2025). ​ Of these, complaints were filed against 50,432 offenders in the respective courts, according to official information tabled in Parliament.​The protection of railway property is entrusted to the Railway Protection Force.
