Starting November 1, 2025, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has rolled out new Aadhaar Card update rules aimed at making the process faster, easier, and completely digital. This means users can now modify their Aadhaar details like name, address, and date of birth online — without visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Quick Summary:

From November 2025, Aadhaar updates such as name, address, and contact details can be done entirely online, with no fee until June 14, 2026. Biometric changes will still require physical verification. Aadhaar-PAN linking is now mandatory before December 31, 2025 to avoid PAN deactivation.

Key Aadhaar Card Rule Changes from 1 November 2021. Aadhaar Updates Go Fully Digital

Under UIDAI’s new digital-first system, users can update the following details online through the official UIDAI website or MyAadhaar app:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Mobile number or email ID

The updated platform will automatically verify user details through linked government databases (like PAN, Passport, or Voter ID), significantly reducing manual document uploads or approval delays.

However, biometric updates — including fingerprint, iris, or photograph — will still require an in-person visit to an authorized Aadhaar Seva Kendra for security verification.

2. Revised Aadhaar Update Fee Structure

UIDAI has announced a new fee system effective November 1, 2025:

Type of UpdateFee (₹)Validity
Demographic (Name, Address, DOB, Mobile)₹75Standard
Biometric (Photo, Fingerprint, Iris)₹125Standard
Online Document UploadFree until June 14, 2026After this, ₹75 will apply
Children (5–7 years and 15–17 years)FreeUIDAI child policy applies

UIDAI confirms that the online document update option will remain free until June 14, 2026, giving citizens ample time to correct details without paying any charges.

3. Aadhaar-PAN Link Now Mandatory

From November 1, 2025, linking Aadhaar with PAN is officially mandatory.
Here’s what you need to know:

  • Deadline: December 31, 2025
  • After Deadline: PAN will be deactivated starting January 1, 2026
  • For New Applicants: Aadhaar authentication will be required during PAN registration
  • For Banks and NBFCs: Simplified e-KYC verification via OTP, video KYC, or in-person Aadhaar confirmation

This step ensures better transparency, prevents tax evasion, and improves financial record integration across government databases.

How to Update Aadhaar Details Online (Step-by-Step Guide)

Follow these simple steps to update your Aadhaar card details digitally:

1️⃣ Visit the UIDAI official website.
2️⃣ Click on “Update Aadhaar Online.”
3️⃣ Enter your Aadhaar number and verify via OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
4️⃣ Select the details you wish to update — name, address, DOB, or mobile number.
5️⃣ Upload supporting documents (if required).
6️⃣ Submit the request and note down the URN (Update Request Number) for tracking.

Once verified, changes will be automatically reflected in your Aadhaar profile.

Important Things Users Should Remember

Before updating your Aadhaar, keep the following points in mind:

  • Ensure your mobile number is linked with Aadhaar for OTP-based verification.
  • Keep supporting documents (PAN, passport, utility bills, etc.) ready for quick approval.
  • Biometric updates still require physical attendance at Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
  • Regularly check your Aadhaar status on the MyAadhaar portal.
  • Use official UIDAI channels only — beware of fake websites or apps.

The Aadhaar Card new rules from November 1, 2025 mark a significant step toward India’s digital governance and citizen convenience. With free online updates until June 2026, simplified verification, and mandatory Aadhaar-PAN linking, UIDAI aims to make identity management faster, safer, and more transparent for everyone.

So, if you haven’t checked your Aadhaar details yet — this is the perfect time to update them online and stay compliant.
