Plot Summary

The story follows Agni, a tribal woman whose world is shattered when her daughter is threatened with kidnapping by a powerful human trafficking syndicate operating in Narmadapuram, rural Madhya Pradesh. When the system fails her, she finds an unexpected ally in sub-inspector Narmada Raikwar, a woman grappling with her own personal struggles—caring for her ailing father Nandkishore while haunted by memories of her rebellious mother Sudha. As the two women’s paths intersect, they uncover a sinister web connected to the disappearance of police inspector Purshottam Bhadoria and a ruthless crime ring led by the formidable Nisha and her Guru Maa. Together, they embark on a journey to expose corruption and bring the culprits to justice, in a narrative that beautifully ties back to the symbolism of the Narmada river itself.

Performances

Ashwini Kalsekar delivers a powerhouse performance as Agni, bringing a raw vocal fire and fierce determination to her portrayal of a mother fighting against all odds to protect her child. Her conviction anchors the emotional core of the film beautifully.

Simala Prasad, in the title role, impresses with a quiet, understated performance that radiates strength and believability. Her portrayal of sub-inspector Narmada Raikwar is layered with vulnerability, especially in the poignant flashback sequences with her mother, adding remarkable emotional depth to her character.

Zarina Wahab shines in her role as Sudha, lending warmth and gravitas to the flashback portions that beautifully enrich Narmada’s backstory and add emotional resonance to the film.

Raghubir Yadav, as always, brings his trademark impact to the screen in his role as Nandkishore, making the most of every moment he’s given and leaving a lasting impression despite limited screen time.

Ishteyak Khan is simply outstanding as Nisha, the film’s central antagonist. His portrayal is dripping with menace and magnetism, and he commands the screen every time he appears, elevating the film’s tension to thrilling new heights.
