Varun Tej makes a spirited comeback with Korean Kanakaraju, a genre-bending horror-comedy that fuses small-town Andhra energy with a wild Korean gangster twist. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, known for his quirky brand of entertainers, the film brings together comedy, mass action, and the supernatural for a theatrical experience unlike anything else releasing this year. With Satya’s impeccable comic timing and Varun Tej’s committed performance anchoring the story, Korean Kanakaraju arrives as a fresh, laughter-filled entertainer for audiences craving something different this weekend.

Korean Kanakaraju follows Kanakaraju, a hot-headed hustler from Penukonda who finds his life turned upside down when the spirit of a Korean gangster ends up possessing him after an urn mysteriously arrives in his village. What begins as a familiar small-town entertainer soon spirals into a cross-country adventure between India and South Korea, packed with slapstick comedy, mass action beats, and a healthy dose of the supernatural. Anchored by Varun Tej’s sincere and versatile performance and elevated by Satya’s effortlessly funny screen presence, the film offers a genuinely novel premise brought to life with solid production values, energetic music from Thaman, and a climax that goes all out on scale and spectacle.

Actor Performances

Varun Tej delivers one of the most versatile performances of his career here, effortlessly shifting between dance sequences, comic beats, and scenes demanding raw style and screen presence. He throws himself into the dual-shade role with visible energy, showing real range and hinting at the star potential he’s long promised.

Satya is an absolute scene-stealer, bringing his trademark comic timing and reactions to every frame he’s in. His chemistry with Varun Tej and Muralidhar Goud produces some of the film’s most enjoyable moments, and his presence keeps the energy consistently high throughout.

Ritika Nayak brings warmth and charm to Chitra, playing the Korea-obsessed village girl with sincerity and holding her own alongside the film’s bigger comic set pieces.

Muralidhar Goud adds valuable support in his combination scenes, playing off the lead pair with easy comic chemistry.

Sunil and Daksha Nagarkar round out a colourful supporting cast, each adding their own flavour to the film’s ensemble energy, with Daksha making a memorable special appearance.
