Maddock Films has officially announced the much-awaited Stree 3, and fans are excited to see if Akshay Kumar’s role will be expanded in this horror-comedy universe. Set to release on August 13, 2027, the film will bring back Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, and the eerie yet hilarious world of Stree. But what’s even more intriguing is producer Dinesh Vijan’s recent statement, calling Akshay Kumar the Thanos of this universe. What does this mean for Stree 3? Here’s everything you need to know!
Plot Overview: What We Know So Far
The Stree franchise, known for blending horror with comedy, has kept audiences entertained with its mysterious folklore and witty storytelling. The previous installment, Stree 2 (2024), was a massive hit, leaving several unanswered questions.
In Stree 2, Akshay Kumar was introduced as a descendant of Chandra Bhan, the infamous ruler of Chanderi who was responsible for Stree’s tragic fate. His surprise cameo in a mental asylum scene in Bhopal, where he thought himself to be Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, was one of the film’s most talked-about moments.
With Stree 3, his role is expected to expand, possibly making him the primary antagonist or even a supernatural force, tying together all the horror-comedies Maddock Films has been creating.

Will Stree 3 Connect to Maddock’s Horror-Comedy Universe?
Maddock Films is clearly creating an MCU-style horror-comedy universe, and Stree 3 is expected to tie up loose ends from the previous movies. The timeline of Akshay’s character, hints from Bhediya (2022), and the upcoming Thama (2026) suggest that Stree 3 could be the crossover film that links all these supernatural stories together.
In an earlier interview, Rajkummar Rao hinted that Stree 3 will bring back familiar ghosts and expand on the legend of Stree, teasing that this film could have even more unexpected cameos and shocking twists.
