  • Genre: Horror, Comedy, Supernatural Drama
  • Age Rating: UA

Plot Summary – When Content Turns Into Confrontation

The film follows Vaid Sharma, played by Vithal Chadha, a struggling content creator who dreams of breaking out of obscurity. His life takes a dramatic turn when he visits a cremation ground, and a new idea strikes — ghost-themed videos.

With his loyal friend Amandeep (Akashdeep Singh), the duo turns their quirky banter into eerie online content that instantly grabs attention. Suddenly, Vaid’s subscriber count skyrockets, comments pour in, and he finds himself at the center of a niche the internet is hungry for.

But with fame comes an unexpected twist — the ghosts Vaid talks about begin appearing for real.
Not only in his life… but inside his videos.

His encounter with Vaishnavi (Avyaana Sharma) deepens the mystery, as her family’s spiritual past connects directly to Vaid’s ghostly experiences and the sacred object Atmaharaam, a bone believed to hold the essence of one’s soul.

Character Analysis – Every Actor Adds Value

Vithal Chadha as Vaid Sharma

Vithal carries the film with a grounded performance, balancing humor, fear, and emotional turmoil. His portrayal of a creator torn between success and morality adds depth to the narrative. He captures the modern creator’s struggle — the desperation for views, validation, and identity — with sincerity.

Akashdeep Singh as Amandeep Singh

The easiest highlight of the film, Akashdeep brings natural humor and warmth. His comic timing, reactions, and supportive presence make every scene with Vaid enjoyable. He adds stability to the story and offers the emotional comfort that balances the eeriness of the plot.

Avyaana Sharma as Vaishnavi

Avyaana brings softness and emotional grounding to the film. Her performance gives the story its emotional weight, especially in the scenes dealing with spirits, fear, and her personal connection with the supernatural world.

Supporting Cast

Even in smaller roles, the supporting actors add authenticity — from the people Vaid encounters at the cremation ground to the spirits that drift through the frames. Everyone contributes to building the film’s atmospheric world.

Screenplay & Writing – Strong Intent, Uneven Impact

The writing is where Atmaharaam Live truly shines in terms of idea.
The concept is layered with:

  • Digital-age ethics
  • Supernatural belief systems
  • Social media pressures
  • Friendship dynamics
  • Emotional vulnerability

The dialogues are simple, sometimes raw, and often reflective of real-world creators. The banter between Vaid and Amandeep works particularly well, offering organic humor.

Where the writing falters is in maintaining suspense and flow during the heavier horror portions. Some scenes could have been more impactful with tighter edits and smoother transitions.

Still, the script deserves applause for venturing into a space rarely explored in Hindi cinema.

Direction – Visionary Concept With Learning Curves

Director Abhishek Srivastava clearly had a standout vision:

Horror elements mixed with social media culture
Strong emotional arc for the lead
Spiritual symbolism rooted in Indian tradition
Relatable friendships and everyday struggles

His direction in the first half, especially in setting up characters and tone, is strong and confident.

The second half stumbles with pacing, but the bold attempt to create a hybrid horror-comedy deserves recognition. Many debut or small-budget films do not attempt such thematic complexity, and for that reason, Atmaharaam Live deserves credit.

Cinematography – Atmospheric, Experimental & Creative

The visuals bring a rustic eeriness to the narrative. The cremation ground sequences, in particular, are shot with gritty textures and dim highlights that create instant tension.

Highlights include:

  • Handheld vlog-style shots
  • Shadow-play in nighttime scenes
  • Subtle ghost appearances in the background
  • Warm lighting during emotional moments

Even though not all shots are technically perfect, the creative intent shines through.

Editing & Pacing – Engaging First Half, Slower Second

The first half moves briskly, with humor, spooky teasers, and strong storytelling.

The second half slows down due to:

  • Longer scenes
  • Repeated emotional beats
  • Slightly stretched horror sequences

However, the emotional stakes remain intact, allowing the film to recover toward the end.

Music & Background Score – Subtle But Effective

The background score supports the tension and blends well with both comedy and horror elements.
The music tries to enhance the emotional beats, giving the film a deeper resonance during dramatic scenes.

Strengths

  • Unique and refreshing premise
  • Engaging chemistry between leads
  • Strong emotional core
  • Creative cinematography
  • Relatable digital-era storyline
  • Humor balanced with supernatural themes

Shortcomings

  • Uneven horror execution
  • Some scenes feel amateurish
  • Pacing issues in the second half
  • Emotional peaks not fully explored

Final Verdict – ★★★★☆ (3.5/5)

Atmaharaam Live may not be technically perfect, but it is earnest, entertaining, and refreshingly original — with engaging performances and a concept that stands out in today’s cinema landscape. A one-time watch that delivers heart and humor with supernatural charm.

Is Atmaharaam Live scary?

It has mild spooky moments but leans more toward horror-comedy.

Is the movie good for family viewing?

It is UA-certified, so parental guidance is advised.

Who gives the best performance?

Akashdeep Singh stands out with his comic timing and natural presence.

What makes the film unique?

Its blend of digital creator culture and Indian spiritual mythology.

Is it worth watching in theatres?

Yes, if you enjoy light horror mixed with comedy and fresh storytelling.
