Marathi cinema has always had a special gift for rooted, character-driven storytelling — and Bhagubai steps into that tradition with a warm, slice-of-life narrative that places an unforgettable woman at its centre. Anchored by a powerhouse performance from veteran actress Nirmiti Sawant, this village drama explores the ripple effects of words, misunderstandings, and the quiet power of family bonds. While the film wears its simplicity proudly, it delivers moments of genuine emotional resonance that linger well beyond the final frame.

Bhagubai is a gentle, feel-good Marathi drama driven by a standout performance from Nirmiti Sawant. Though the story leans on simplicity, its warmth, village charm, and heartfelt resolution make it a rewarding watch for fans of traditional Marathi cinema.

Plot Summary

Bhagubai (Nirmiti Sawant) is a well-meaning woman living in a village with her husband Dinkar Rao (Shashank Shende), son Laxman (Mangesh Desai), daughter-in-law Madhuri (Bhargavi Chirmule), and grandson Golu (Dnyanansh Vishal Kulkarni). Despite her good heart, Bhagubai’s words have a peculiar way of stirring up conflicts among people around her. When Madhuri prays for peace, Bhagubai mysteriously loses her voice — but not before setting in motion two major disputes: a property battle between brothers Tatya and Mandar, and a misunderstanding that threatens the marriage alliance between Avinash and Chhaya. The story follows how these conflicts are eventually resolved, and what becomes of Bhagubai’s voice.
