At least 10 soldiers lost their lives, and 10 others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident in J&K’s Doda district. The incident occurred when an army vehicle veered out of control and plunged into a deep gorge on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road at Khanni Top. The vehicle, carrying around 20 personnel en route to a high-altitude post, fell nearly 200 feet into the gorge.
A joint rescue operation involving the army and police was swiftly initiated. Tragically, four soldiers were found dead at the accident site, while the injured were airlifted to the army’s Northern Command Hospital in Udhampur for medical care. Regrettably, some of the injured soldiers succumbed to their injuries either during transport or at the hospital.
J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the 10 brave Indian Army soldiers in this unfortunate incident. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers and emphasized the nation’s solidarity and support for the grieving families. Additionally, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conveyed his profound grief over the tragic accident, praising the swift rescue and evacuation efforts and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured personnel.
