Around 115 individuals, including many children, became sick after eating golgappas from a street vendor in Polai Khurd village, Digod subdivision, Kota district. Twelve of them were taken to the Community Health Centre in Simliya due to symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and severe stomach pain. The affected people started showing health issues on Tuesday night right after consuming the golgappas.
Family members rushed the sick villagers to hospitals and health centers as more cases emerged, leading the Health Department to set up a special health camp in the village. Medical teams, along with an ambulance, were dispatched by the Block Chief Medical and Health Officer to assist the patients. Critical patients were transferred to CHC Simliya, while others are receiving treatment at the village health camp.
Officials, including Sub-Divisional Officer Deepak Mahawar and BCMO Rajesh Samar, visited the village to assess the situation. The Health Department is actively conducting a door-to-door survey with ANMs and ASHA workers to identify more cases and provide timely medical aid. Samples of the golgappas and water used in their preparation have been collected for testing by the Food Safety Department.
The vendor, reportedly from Sholi village, is under investigation, with authorities looking into all aspects of the incident. BCMO Rajesh Samar mentioned that appropriate action will be taken if food safety violations or negligence are found. Patients started arriving at hospitals on Tuesday night, and medical teams are treating them, with most individuals in stable condition. The Health Department is closely monitoring the situation as a precaution.
