As many as 15 individuals sustained injuries in a road accident in J&K’s Rajouri district on Monday. The incident occurred when a minibus skidded off the road on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch national highway in the Tandwal area of Rajouri. The driver lost control of the wheel, leading to the vehicle skidding off the road and causing injuries to the passengers.
The injured individuals have been taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident and have registered a case in this regard. The hilly districts of Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban, and Udhampur are known for experiencing fatal road accidents.
Traffic Department officials attribute these accidents to various factors such as poor road conditions, overloading, overspeeding, and road rage. To address this issue, special squads have been deployed in these districts to curb reckless and negligent driving practices. Several drivers have faced legal consequences for reckless driving, including the cancellation of driving licenses and vehicle registration certificates, as well as imprisonment.
