More than 18 individuals accused of cow slaughter in Gujarat have received sentences ranging from seven years to life imprisonment in the last year, according to Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. Sanghavi emphasized the state’s “zero tolerance” stance while attending a Holi celebration in Surendranagar district.
He highlighted the government’s strict actions against cow slaughter offenders, attributing the convictions to the state’s resolute approach. Sanghavi also mentioned the enactment of a stringent anti-cow slaughter law in Gujarat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, acknowledging the sentiments of cow devotees.
Under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s direction, Sanghavi announced additional financial aid for the development of Dudhrej Dham, amounting to a total of Rs 6.50 crore. This funding aims to enhance facilities at the pilgrimage site and support various development initiatives.
In a bid to strengthen Sanatan values and emphasize the importance of cow protection, Sanghavi urged devotees and community members to unite. The event, attended by officials and dignitaries including Deputy Chief Whip Jagdish Makwana and MP Babu Desai, focused on promoting traditional values and religious responsibilities.
