A tragic fire at the Flourish Stay B&B in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar claimed 21 lives, with 15 others currently receiving medical care at a private hospital. Among the injured, six patients are on ventilator support, but their condition is reported as stable, according to a statement from Max Hospital, Saket.
The hospital disclosed that 15 patients, including 13 foreigners, are presently admitted, with six individuals requiring ventilator assistance. Fortunately, all patients on ventilators are displaying signs of improvement and are in stable condition.
Nine patients are under treatment in the ICU and wards, with the hospital stating that the overall condition of all admitted patients is stable. While one patient is set for discharge, there are no critically ill patients at the moment. The hospital is closely monitoring a patient who underwent spine surgery recently due to the varying nature and severity of injuries among patients.
Authorities mentioned that 47 individuals were rescued from the building, with 26 currently undergoing treatment. Additionally, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi has received several injured persons, including police personnel who were part of the initial responders to the fire incident.
Following the tragic event, the owner of the property, Lokesh Bajaj, has been remanded to four days of police custody after being arrested by the Delhi Police. Bajaj was apprehended following extensive search operations across the capital and was presented before a Delhi court. The police emphasized the necessity of custodial interrogation due to the preliminary stage of the investigation, citing the delay in forensic examination and the staff’s compliance with Bajaj’s directives.
