A total of 231 Flight Cadets, comprising 194 men and 37 women, were commissioned as officers in the Indian Air Force after graduating from the Air Force Academy. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh oversaw the Combined Graduation Parade of the 217th Course and granted the President’s Commission to the cadets, signifying the completion of their training for the Flying and Ground Duty branches.
During the ceremony, officers from the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and Vietnam were also honored. Rajnath Singh praised the cadets for joining a service that has historically been a shield and sword for the nation. He highlighted the IAF’s pivotal roles in past conflicts and urged the new officers to be vigilant in the face of evolving security challenges.
Rajnath Singh emphasized the importance of adapting to modern warfare dynamics, where adversaries and weaponry are often concealed. He urged the officers to stay alert and embrace innovation to maintain an edge in future operations. The Defence Minister stressed the significance of continuous learning and smart work in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
Extending special congratulations to the women officers, Rajnath Singh emphasized the strengthening impact of their presence in the IAF. He also acknowledged the graduating Vietnamese officers and expressed confidence in the bilateral friendship. The Defence Minister commended the IAF for its humanitarian efforts, reflecting a culture of assistance transcending boundaries.
