A 24-year-old man from Rajasthan, Dalip Singh, lost his life in the Iran-Israel conflict near Oman’s Khasab Port. Dalip, a crew member on the MV Skylight, was on duty when the vessel was attacked, leading to his tragic death. The incident has left his family and the Khinwatana village in mourning.
Dalip Singh, who had recently joined the Merchant Navy to support his family financially, was on board the Palau-flagged oil and chemical tanker when the attack occurred. The vessel, struck by a missile or drone boat, suffered a massive explosion that claimed the lives of crew members, including Dalip.
The attack, suspected to be linked to broader tensions in the Gulf region, took place near the critical oil transit route, the Strait of Hormuz. With rising hostilities involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, the maritime zones have become increasingly volatile. The tragic news of Dalip Singh’s death has deeply affected his community in Nagaur.
Villagers and relatives are calling for government support for Dalip’s family and enhanced safety measures for Indian seafarers in conflict-prone maritime areas.
