A 24-year-old youth, Taufiq Ansari, was reportedly murdered with a sharp-edged weapon late Monday night in Giridih, Jharkhand. Taufiq, who had recently been released from jail, named his attackers before succumbing to his injuries, as claimed by family members who recorded his alleged dying declaration on a mobile phone.
The incident took place near Azad Nagar Chadra Bridge, where Taufiq was lured under the guise of a meeting, believed to be a premeditated plan. Upon receiving a call from Asif Ali, Taufiq went to the spot with three friends, only to be confronted by the accused and their accomplices who were waiting for him.
Eyewitnesses reported that an argument ensued upon Taufiq’s arrival, leading to a violent attack with sharp weapons by the group. Despite attempting to escape, Taufiq was chased down, overpowered, and assaulted. His family members, upon reaching the scene, found him severely injured and bleeding profusely, with Taufiq allegedly naming Sakib, Arshad, Monu Pathan, and Asif Ali as the perpetrators.
The police, upon being informed, arrived at the scene, sent the body for postmortem examination, and recovered the victim’s mobile phone from a nearby drain. Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder may be connected to a personal feud and a power struggle in the local area. It was confirmed that the deceased had a criminal record and had previously served time in jail. Special police teams have been deployed to conduct raids and apprehend the suspects.
