A 25-year-old man, missing since January 9, was discovered murdered under suspicious circumstances in a wheat field in Mohanpur village, Gopalganj district, Bihar. The victim, identified as Anil Kushwaha, hailed from Mohanpur village. His body was located in a wheat field away from the village, attracting a large crowd after being spotted by villagers.
Family members alleged that Anil was romantically involved with a girl from the same village. They claimed that the girl’s family attacked Anil after she called him, leading to his assault and body being dumped in the field. This incident sparked anger among family members and villagers, who protested for immediate action.
Amid the uproar, police detained two suspects, but the crowd tried to free them, prompting police to secure the suspects in a nearby house. The situation escalated as the crowd surrounded the house, necessitating police intervention to ensure the suspects’ safety and move them to the police station for questioning.
Authorities from Katiya police station, including a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, initiated an investigation at the crime scene. Hathua SDPO Anand Mohan Gupta, accompanied by police teams, convinced villagers to allow the body to be transferred to the model hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have detained two individuals for interrogation in connection with the case.
Katiya Station House Officer Om Prakash Chauhan mentioned that an official complaint had not been filed yet. He assured that the detained individuals were being questioned, emphasizing that the perpetrators would face consequences and the case would be resolved promptly. The village remains tense as the police investigation unfolds.
