A total of 35 BJP MLAs were sworn in as Ministers at the Lok Bhavan on Monday in West Bengal. This marks an expansion of the cabinet led by Suvendu Adhikari. The 35 new ministers include 13 cabinet ministers, with their portfolios yet to be announced.

With the addition of these 13 new cabinet ministers, the total number of cabinet members in the new West Bengal government, including Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, now stands at 19. Adhikari took oath as the Chief Minister on May 9, along with five other cabinet members.

Apart from the cabinet ministers, three BJP legislators were sworn in as Ministers of State (independent charge), while 19 others took oath as Ministers of State. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Lok Sabha in Kolkata and was administered by the Governor, R.N. Ravi.

After the oath-taking, the new ministers are set to go to the state secretariat of Nabanna. A cabinet meeting chaired by CM Adhikari has been scheduled at 3 p.m. where the Chief Minister is expected to allocate portfolios to the new ministers.
