More than 500 sadhus and sants from various parts of the country gathered in Gujarat’s Somnath for a grand ‘Damru Rally,’ likened to a ‘Mini Kumbh Mela’ due to its scale and spiritual significance. The rhythmic beats of sacred drums filled the air as the procession made its way through the region, setting a vibrant and devotional atmosphere. The event preceded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Somnath for the Somnath Swabhiman Parv.
The rally, which started at Shankh Chakra and passed through Hamirji Gohil Circle before reaching the Somnath Mahadev Temple, featured holy men playing traditional instruments like the ‘dak’ and ‘damru’ while chanting sacred slogans. The entire town resonated with the sounds of drums and chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jai Somnath,’ creating a deeply spiritual ambiance. Pilgrims, tourists, and locals alike marveled at the spectacle, capturing the moment with awe and joy.
Sant Piyudan Gadhvi Sadhu, one of the participants, highlighted the historical significance of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, emphasizing the unity and devotion it fosters through bhajans, communal meals, and prayers to Lord Shiva. The event, which marks the 75th anniversary of the Somnath Mahadev Temple’s inauguration, symbolizes faith and cultural pride under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the guidance of sants. The festival aims to revive the enduring spirit of the temple, which stands as a testament to India’s resilience and self-respect.
