A 70-year-old woman was tragically beaten to death by her daughter and grandson in a Bengaluru apartment complex. The incident occurred after the woman objected to her daughter and grandson’s drinking habits. The accused, the woman’s daughter aged 49 and grandson aged 26, have been taken into custody by the police.
The victim, identified as Jayamma, hailed from Hanninakere in Hassan district. The accused, Bhagyalakshmi, a homemaker, and her son Kushal, resided in the apartment complex where the incident took place. Residents had previously raised concerns about the accused’s alcohol consumption and disruptive behavior.
According to a complaint filed by a resident of the apartment complex, the accused had a history of alcohol consumption and disturbances. Despite previous interventions, including sending Kushal to a rehabilitation center, the disturbances persisted. On the night of the incident, loud arguments and cries for help were reportedly heard from the accused’s residence.
Residents discovered the victim, Jayamma, lying injured in the apartment after allegedly being assaulted with a cricket bat and a wooden club. The police have registered a murder case against the accused, Bhagyalakshmi and Kushal, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details of the tragic event.
