Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs clinched their debut win in the T20 Mumbai Women’s League by defeating Thane Sky Risers by seven wickets at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Sanika Chalke’s impressive 68 off 36 deliveries played a pivotal role in the Tigers’ successful chase of 157 runs. Partnering with Humairaa Kaazi, Sanika’s aggressive innings, comprising 10 fours and two sixes, set the tone for the Tigers’ victory.
Fatima Jaffar and Manali Dakshini’s unbeaten contributions of 28 and 29 runs respectively ensured a comfortable win for the Tigers. Thane Sky Risers, batting first, posted a competitive 156/6 with openers Mansi Patil and Vruushali Bhagat providing a solid start with a 73-run partnership. However, despite the strong foundation, the Risers faltered in maintaining momentum, resulting in a loss.
Siddhi Kamthe’s impressive bowling figures of 3/29 were instrumental in restricting Thane Sky Risers. In a separate men’s tournament match, the North Mumbai Panthers, led by Ajinkya Rahane, secured a 22-run victory over Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs. Ayush Vartak’s unbeaten 83 powered the Panthers to 194/6, while Sarfaraz Khan’s 62 runs were not enough for the Tigers, who suffered their second defeat in three games.
