Amid tensions between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress over student protests in Delhi, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj criticized Congress for allegedly creating a ‘parallel movement’ led by Rahul Gandhi to undermine the protests. Bhardwaj accused Congress of attempting to diminish the protests by sharing videos from Jantar Mantar while trying to present themselves as supporters.
Bhardwaj mocked the Congress ecosystem, questioning their role and objectivity in the protests. He claimed that Congress’ efforts, orchestrated by Rahul Gandhi, failed to gain momentum and have regressed to the initial phase. The AAP leader alleged that Congress aimed to discredit the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, by dismissing the protests as a mere “social media bubble.”
Thousands of students had gathered at Jantar Mantar to support the CJP’s protests. However, Bhardwaj accused Congress of diverting attention by organizing events near the Prime Minister’s residence to create a separate movement. AAP has accused both Congress and BJP of collaborating to overshadow the CJP protests and divert attention.
The recent criticism from AAP’s Delhi chief follows remarks by Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, who labeled the protests led by Rahul Gandhi as ‘insincere and opportunistic.’ She emphasized that the youth of India are now more discerning and cannot be misled by political tactics. The AAP leader also condemned a Congress social media influencer’s insinuation that Sonam Wangchuk and his wife are affiliated with RSS, further escalating tensions between the two parties.
