Widening the divide in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj responded to MP Raghav Chadha’s criticism after being replaced as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha. Bharadwaj emphasized that Chadha’s role was to address Punjab-related issues in the upper house and accused him of hesitating to align with the Opposition.
Bharadwaj downplayed the situation, stating the party had various objections. He noted that Chadha was not elected by the public to the Lok Sabha but was appointed by the party to represent Punjab issues in the Rajya Sabha.
Highlighting the issues Chadha should have raised, Bharadwaj mentioned the withholding of farmers’ funds by the Central government, delays in MNREGA payments, and pending dues of the Punjab government. He criticized Chadha for not addressing these concerns in the Rajya Sabha.
Accusing Chadha of reluctance, Bharadwaj claimed the MP avoided signing the impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner and refrained from walking out with the Opposition during crucial moments. He stressed the importance of courage in politics and advised Chadha to focus on pertinent issues rather than trivial matters.
Bharadwaj also criticized the BJP for diverting attention from significant matters, urging for a focus on pressing issues like the gas shortage due to foreign policy decisions, imposed tariffs, and the necessity to negotiate a ceasefire with Pakistan.
