Aam Aadmi Party leader Durgesh Pathak announced his decision not to engage in the ongoing legal proceedings regarding the alleged Delhi liquor policy case before Justice Swarnakanta Sharma. Pathak, in alignment with party colleagues’ concerns, emphasized the importance of justice being not only done but also seen to be done.
In a statement posted on X, Pathak, along with Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, expressed his intention to refrain from involvement in the current legal proceedings before Justice Swarnakanta Sharma, either personally or through legal representation. Pathak conveyed his agreement with the sentiments and apprehensions raised by his colleagues in a letter to the Justice.
Stating his unwavering faith in the Indian Constitution and the judiciary’s institutional integrity, Pathak clarified that his decision to abstain from the proceedings was not out of defiance or disrespect towards the court. He emphasized that his letter was solely intended to candidly and respectfully record his position on the matter.
The move by Pathak follows a broader stance taken by senior AAP leaders regarding the alleged Delhi liquor policy case. Recently, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also expressed his loss of confidence in the court proceedings by invoking the Gandhian principle of ‘Satyagraha’ in a letter to Justice Swarnakanta Sharma, echoing the sentiments shared by party leader Arvind Kejriwal.
