The murder of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Lucky Oberoi in Punjab has sparked strong political responses, raising concerns about the state’s law and order situation. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi termed the incident “very unfortunate” and urged swift and strict action from the Punjab government. Chaturvedi expressed worries over the deteriorating situation in Punjab and emphasized the need for immediate measures to address the law and order issues.
Congress MP Dharamvira Gandhi criticized the AAP government, painting a grim picture of Punjab’s current state. Gandhi highlighted a rise in crimes like robberies, lootings, threats, and killings since the AAP came to power, likening Punjab to the Bihar of the past. He accused the government of failing to effectively tackle gangsterism and demanded stringent action against criminals to restore peace in the state.
Gandhi further expressed concerns over the deteriorating situation by referencing high-profile cases like the murder of Sidhu Moosewala. He lamented the loss of Punjab’s once peaceful and developed image, urging authorities to take immediate action to address the escalating crime rates. Meanwhile, police provided details of the incident, stating that Lucky Oberoi was shot in broad daylight in Jalandhar’s busy Model Town area.
Authorities revealed that two bike-borne assailants shot Oberoi multiple times, resulting in his tragic death. The shooting, which occurred outside a Gurdwara, caused panic among residents, leading to increased security measures in the locality. Oberoi, who had close ties to a local political figure, was sitting in his car when the attack took place, prompting a thorough investigation by the police to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the crime.
